The Preston Compact
The Compact plays an important role in setting out the principles and guidelines that act as a framework for good relations between the voluntary and community sector and the Preston Strategic Partnership. It aims to improve working relationships, establish best practice in partnership working and seeks to ensure the structural and economic development of organisations and groups within the voluntary sector. It also provides a framework for the development of strategic and operational plans and policies.
The Community Network is the lead organisation for the Compact in Preston. As a voluntary and community group working in Preston, you should be aware of the Compact as it covers issues such as funding, volunteering and consultation - you can download the document here.
In November 2007 the Community Network won a national award for an event we held to promote the Compact in Preston - have a look at the report from this event (see right)
In 2011, Preston Community Network facilitated a revitalisation of the 2005 Preston Compact. Consultation was carried out (including a Full Equality Impact Assessment by the PSP Inclusion Reference Group) and a final draft emerged. During 2012, it is expected that the document will be formally adopted by the PSP and a signing/launch event held. The final draft is available to download (click on the relevant button on the right) Please be aware that the document is 29 sides of A4 long.
