Older People's Forum (Older People's Partnership Board)
The purpose of this Forum is to raise awareness and provide action on issues affecting older people.
Forum priorities are:
Health
Housing
Social Isolation
The Forum is chaired by Linda Chivers, Chief Executive of Age Concern Preston and South Ribble and is made up of representatives from both the public and voluntary sector and also has ‘lay’ older adults representatives, appointed through the Community Network. Presently, Network representatives are Rose Caine, Mahmud Amirat, Patricia Hesketh-Sullivan, and, Mair Ratcliffe
The role of the older adult representatives is:
• To share the experience and understanding they have as representatives of their respective groups or organisations
• To provide, as required, a means of communication to and from the Forum and their respective organisations and Preston Community Network
• To consider and comment on written material provided to all Forum members advising on national and local developments affecting older adults
• To attend and participate in Forum meetings, or ask a representative to attend on their behalf. Meetings are held every two months and last for approximately two hours in total
We hope the commitment to the Forum is not too onerous and will be an enjoyable, informative and productive experience. We believe the Forum is supportive to all representatives and will welcome challenge designed to improve services or opportunities on behalf of older adults.
Reasonable travel expenses will be reimbursed and no additional responsibilities will be presumed although the opportunity to take part in other related initiatives are available.
If you are a part of an older peoples group and would like to be part of the Forum please ring Julie Humphrey on 01772 717461 or email julie@prestoncn.org for more details.
